With the number of STEM field jobs in the United States expected to grow by 17 percent through 2018, proficiency in mathematics has become critical to the future workforce. A key indicator along the pathway to proficiency is the successful completion and understanding of Algebra I. Realizing the important role math will play in students’ future successes, the EnergyPartners Fund and Highland Santa Barbara Foundation, Inc. have collaborated with the Santa Maria-Bonita School District to bring the Reasoning Mind math program to its fifth, sixth, and seventh grade students.
